10 MORE Times The MCU Betrayed Your Trust
4. The Missing Spider-Man (Spider-Man: No Way Home)
To re-iterate the point from the previous entry, Spider-Man: No Way Home was a hugely successful event for the MCU in terms of both box office and fan reception. However, there was room for it be even more epic than it was.
Everyone wanted a coming together of Peter Parker, Peter Parker, and Peter Parker, but Peter Parker isn’t the only Spider-Man the world has ever seen. In fact, arguably the best previous Spider-Man movie was based instead around Miles Morales, someone who certainly needs to make his MCU debut sooner rather than later.
Surely, a multiversal crossover would have been perfect for Miles’ franchise bow, and would have been Marvel Studios’ best opportunity to be as true to the comics with his backstory as possible. He was even teased by a conversation between Electro and Peter 3 in the Statue of Liberty, leading more than a few people to expect some sort of tease in a post-credit scene.
Unfortunately however, there was no sign of Miles Morales. Instead, fans were shown Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock, but his time in the MCU didn’t even see him leave the bar. This could have been so much better, and so much bigger.
