10 More Upcoming Movie Performances Doomed To Fail
4. Aaron Pierre as Mufasa - Mufasa
Aaron Pierre is facing an impossible task coming into this year's The Lion King prequel, Mufasa - releasing December 20, 2024.
Few actors are as synonymous with a role as the late, great James Earl Jones is with the part of Simba's mighty father. His booming, majestic voice as the king of Pride Rock still sends chills up the spine all these years later, and watching a Lion King story without Jones involved as Mufasa will certainly be a less satisfying experience.
The trailers for the photo-realistically animated prequel/sequel to 2019's remake of The Lion King have already proved that, with Pierre's actually-quite-strong delivery as a young Mufasa still not a patch on the legendary Jones' work as the titular Lion King.
The Rebel Ridge star likely won't embarrass himself by any means in this unwanted origin story, but it's a performance that will still probably be doomed to fail when it comes to measuring up to the great icon who came before him.
