3. Walter To Joanna - The Stepford Wives
Based on Ira Levin's novel of the same name, The Stepford Wives opens with passionate photographer, Joanna, moving to the seemingly idyllic town of Stepford with her husband, Walter, and their two children. Not long after arriving, Walter joins a secretive club called the Men's Association, much to Joanna's frustration.
Joanna is unnerved by how the local wives spend every waking hour catering to their husbands. After hearing the local women were once confident and outspoken, Joanna begins to suspects something deeply sinister is happening in Stepford.
Although Joanna is correct, the truth is far more disturbing than she could've imagined. Digging deeper, Joanna discovers the Men's Association is systematically murdering the Stepford wives and replacing them with obedient robot doubles.
Most horrifying of all, Walter fully supports this scheme, seduced by the promise of a perfect wife. After being cornered, Joanna is strangled to death by her own android replica, which then takes her place.
Even though viewers hoped Walter would defend Joanna when he uncovered the truth about the Men's Association, he agreed to have his wife discarded and replaced in the blink of an eye.
