10 Most Binge-Worthy Horror Movie Franchises

9. A Nightmare On Elm Street

Chucky Child's Play

Number of films: 9.

Featuring one of horror's most iconic and bone-chilling antagonists, Wes Craven's cult classic Nightmare on Elm Street series has so far spawned nine movies as of 2010, and remains one of the most intensely rewatchable horror series on offer.

Like all great horror movies, the premise is simple: The vengeful spirit of a murdered child-killer called Freddy Krueger returns from the dead to terrorise and kill teenagers by manipulating their nightmares. Disturbing twists follow.

Debuting in 1984, the Elm Street franchise has gone through a handful of important tone changes through the years, and features as much horror as it does very dark comedy and typical teenage melodrama. All but one of the films are held together by the horrifying performance of the legendary Robert Englund.

Inventive, surreal, creepy and sure to ruin some sleep, A Nightmare on Elm Street is a seriously addictive franchise, and one that maintains the high quality of the original for much of its run. Sweet dreams.

I get to write about what I love, so that's pretty cool. Every great film should seem new every time you see it. Be excellent to each other.
