10 Most Cringe-Worthy Oscar Moments

1. Snow White And Rob Lowe

1989's Oscar telecast is widely regarded as the worst of all time, the one that people still wake up in a cold sweat having dreamt about. Grease producer Allan Carr decided to kick things off with a misguided song and dance routine that lasted in excess of 10 minutes, beginning with young actress Eileen Bowman (whose career was completely derailed by the performance) playing Snow White, dancing her way around the theater, and interacting with several confused actors. She makes it to the stage where she dances with Rob Lowe (who was at the time trying to fan the flames of his underage sex tape scandal, so pairing him with a young woman probably wasn't a stellar idea), and the whole thing continues on for a few more agonising minutes. Disney sued the Academy for using the character of Snow White without permission, and notable actors such as Paul Newman, Julie Andrews, and Gregory Peck signed an open letter to the Academy, declaring that the debacle was an abject embarrassment to the film industry as a whole. That probably explains why finding good clips of it is so difficult, then. Which infamous Oscar moment makes you cringe the most? Let us know in the comments below.
