The original Karate Kid is remembered fondly for a number of reasons. Cobra Kai's dirty fighting tactics, Mr. Miyagi's unusual training regimen, Daniel-San's iconic crane kick...the list goes on. But one thing no one talks about is the magical kiss between Daniel Larusso and Ali Mills.
That's because it's not magical. It's more like the start of a terrifying monster movie.
The phrase "sucking faces" has never been taken more literally than in this clumsy moment of, erm, "passion" between the two teenage lovebirds. In the span of about five seconds they go from cumbersomely holding each other to trying to inhale each other's souls.
Ralph Macchio is basically a lamprey going in for the kill. He's a snake unhinging his jaw so that he can consume Elisabeth Shue's head in a single bite.
For the record, this might also be the most realistic scene on the list, since that's exactly how the average 16-year-old boy would attack their girlfriend's face, especially if their girlfriend was as hot as Elisabeth Shue.
Still, the added realism doesn't detract from how awkward the encounter is.
