10 Most Disappointing Harry Potter Movie Moments
6. Snape’s Worst Memory – The Order Of The Phoenix
The Order of the Phoenix is the least faithful of all the movie adaptations. The filmmakers left out St. Mungo’s Hospital, Harry’s date with Cho, Dobby, Rita Skeeter, and even Quidditch.
The chapter entitled ‘Snape’s Worst Memory’ did make it into the movie, but the flashback lasts about twenty seconds. The adolescent Snape is depicted as a lonesome, isolated figure who’s then hoisted into the air by James Potter, and that’s it.
In the original story, the reader is treated to a lengthy sequence in which Harry follows the Marauders through the castle and out into the grounds. We learn about the dynamic of the four friends and their various attitudes towards Snape. Harry’s mother also makes an appearance and it’s fascinating to see how much she loathes James despite the fact they ended up getting married once they left school.
Lily isn’t even featured in the movie and what we see of the Marauders is frustratingly brief. Indeed, the only purpose of this scene is to give Snape an excuse for stopping Harry’s Occlumency lessons.
