10 Most Disappointing Horror Movie Remakes

4. Cabin Fever (2016)

Eli Roth's grotty little body horror movie was a hit in 2002, Cabin Fever walks the line between funny and fearsome with ease, the original take a great addition to the gory classics that defined the era before its release. 2016's take on the material, however, was... exactly the same, produced by Roth in an effort to squish any attempt to build and grow upon the original movie.

What exactly is the point of a movie that takes everything that came before it and does it the same again? Where Roth was handed the opportunity to see another take on his work as it grew in a new direction, we're just taken back a decade earlier to a superior movie wrapped up in contemporary packaging. Cabin Fever was already walking a dated line back in 2002, so for it to retain all the same qualities (including some terrible place-holder characters that don't really have a lot to do other than scream) was just a big old misfire.

At least make it Cabin in the Woods Fever for a bit of spice.
