10 Most Disappointing Horror Movie Remakes

3. Carrie (2013)

Is this sacrilege? Yes, it is, and everyone involved should feel bad and ashamed for smearing Brian De Palma's fantastic story of an abused telekinetic girl with this load of rehashed nonsense. De Palma is the spark that brought Stephen King's novels to the blazing inferno of popularity we know it as today, carefully drawing out the threads of the written work into a visual tapestry that was a sight to behold.

And whilst there was room for a fresh hot take on this idea to come to life, 2013's Carrie felt far more preoccupied with attempting to live up to De Palma's piece than it did establishing its own new brand.

It won't be the worst remake, or even movie in it's own right, that you should choose to watch. But for those that grew up with 1976's influential work hanging heavy over horror for the past 40 years, 2013's Carrie was a big a disappointment as you can get. Easy watching doesn't make for lasting pieces of cinematic history.
