10 Most Disappointing Villains In Movie History
9. Darth Maul - Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace
A lot of Star Wars fans got super-excited about Darth Maul in the build-up to the movie's 1999 release, 'cause look - the guy's got a freakin' double-lightsaber! What's that about?! And though lots of nerds have taken Maul under their wing in the aftermath of that cinematic diaster and fleshed him out in the expanded universe and in fan-fiction he's got to be one of the most Godawfully one-dimensional characters in the history of movie villains. I mean, he only has about three lines.
Don't get me wrong: Maul is pretty badass as far as silent villains go, but I really wish George Lucas could've found a way that make this guy a little bit more more than a broody double-lightsaber machine, whether he was supposed to die in the first movie or not.
Lots of people presumed that Maul was the titutal "Phantom Menace," so to have him play such a minor part in the actual story was kind of disappointing.
