1. Star Wars: The Last Jedi

It hasn't been out very long, but Star Wars: The Last Jedi has already sent the internet into a full-on meltdown.

After two consecutive hits in as many years, the Disney-era Star Wars machine looked impenetrable, but The Last Jedi - though making a lot of money - hasn't received the same love from fans as Rogue One and The Force Awakens did.

And though it's only the Sith that deal in absolutes, Episode VIII - on the whole - has proven a "love it or hate it" kind of movie.

Some fans say that this movie has killed Star Wars for them, that it's ruined Luke Skywalker, and that it raises a giant middle finger to the people who've spent years passionately discussing what might happen after Episode VII.

Conversely, some fans think that The Last Jedi is thrilling, bold and compelling, with big ramifications for its characters, some of the best action in the series, and one hell of a setup for Episode IX.

The story is different critically, though; with 92% on Rotten Tomatoes and 86 on Metacritic, there's no evidence of a divide here. This indicates most people think The Last Jedi is a great movie, but it's perhaps not the great Star Wars movie some people wanted.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
