10 Most Divisive Movies Of 2019
5. Terminator: Dark Fate
On one hand, Terminator: Dark Fate is accepted by most to be the best Terminator film since at least Terminator 3 - though some would argue T2 - but on the other, it's tough to avoid the cynical feeling that comes with any franchise getting the "reboot-sequel" treatment.
Dark Fate certainly boasts the most consistent tone of any Terminator film since T2, and it's fun to see Linda Hamilton back in the role of Sarah Connor, but right from its controversial opening scene, it was inevitably going to cleave the fanbase down the middle.
For every fan who felt that Dark Fate revingiraoted the series, there was someone who considered it overly sacrilegious, if not simply a lazy, uninspired rehash of the first two movies in the series.
Meanwhile, general audiences didn't even bother turning up, causing the film to bomb at the box office and once again kill any prospect of a proposed trilogy.
With estimated losses of up to $130 million, though, this time the franchise might finally be dead for good - or at least a long while.
