3. Sean Connery - The Untouchables
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPZ6eaL3S2E Sean Connery comes from that infamous school of acting where you just do whatever the hell you like, 'cause that beats learning how to speak in an accent for a movie role any day. In The Untouchables, Connery plays Jim Malone, an Irish beat cop who sounds a lot more like a Scottishman (and occasionally an American). In fact, Connery seems to abandon his Irish accent on the occassions he does try to implement it, and instead just starts talking in his own voice (best described, I think, as a "Highland burr"). Strange as the accent was, Connery managed to bag an Oscar for this bizarrely-voiced performance. Which means that, yes, Sean Connery can do whatever he wants, and if you don't like it, just give him an Oscar.
