10 Most Emotional Avengers: Endgame Moments
8. Thor And His Mother
The state of Thor's mental health is argued to be made the butt of one big long joke throughout Endgame, but there is one moment that takes a reprieve from his downward spiral to have a serious bit of hashing out via his mother, Frigga. It's here that Thor gets to the bottom of his problems with failure and not feeling good enough to be a hero anymore, and has to be reassured that in finding who he really is than who he's supposed to be, he'll be much happier in the long run.
It's sensitive and touching, and renders the his appearance into something far more poignant than a walking piece of unjust humour. Thor has fallen from grace as the impossibly handsome, hammer-wielding hero that we've all known him as into something entirely new and unknown, the laughs thrown in his direction a meta commentary on how society at large looks at people who are struggling - especially men.
The conversation with Frigga is the chance we get to see under the surface, given an explicit full stop when Mjolnir is conjured once more to prove his worthiness as a good man. This is the moment Thor can rise from the ashes again and believe in himself - no matter what he looks like or where he's been. It's a moment of empowerment that was sorely needed in the mix.
