As far as forgettable MCU movies go, Black Widow is up there with the best of them. Aside from the introduction of Yelena Belova, and to a lesser extent the Red Guardian, there wasn’t too much to get excited about. That includes one of the most forgettable villains in the entire franchise, General Dreykov.

The character had been alluded to back in The Avengers by Loki, but he ultimately debuted almost a decade later as one of the most underwhelming characters in MCU history. The fact that audiences were already assured of his defeat in the prequel, and that Ray Winstone’s Russian accent made taking the character seriously impossible, were huge factors in this.

However, if you forget all of that, you get to a horrifically evil character that bought young girls from around the world to the Red Room. While there, they not only trained to be master assassins, they were sterilised to ensure any potential distractions of a family were eradicated before they ever arose.

Still not convinced Dreykov was evil? Look at what he did to his own daughter! She miraculously survived a bomb attack, and his response was to put a chip in her head to control her completely and without question.
