Throughout their years at Hogwarts, Crabbe and Goyle are little more than thugs. During the short time they appear in both the movies and the books, they are usually threatening or abusing their fellow students under the command of Malfoy.

Yet the more sinister side of their nature is unveiled in the final instalment of the series. After reuniting with Neville in The Hog’s Head, Harry, Ron and Hermione learn of Crabbe and Goyle’s aptitude for Unforgivable Curses. The trio feel the full force of their unexpected talents whilst in The Room of Requirement when they attempt to kill both Ron and Hermione.

Justice is served quickly, however, when Crabbe is consumed by his own Fiendfyre. It’s safe to say no one reading this chapter felt any sadness whatsoever at his death.
