10 Most Frightening Moments In Film History

4. Let the Right One In- The "Happy" Ending

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5U3g3-EUBY There's an inherent creepiness that comes with setting children into real world circumstances and Let the Right One In exploits that brilliantly. The story of Oskar and Eli is heartwarming yet also horrifying at the same time. The way it walks the delicate balance of showing the pain of vampirism intercut with the pain of growing up gives the "happy" ending a deeply disturbing feeling. The narrative kind of seduces the audience into wanting Oskar and Eli to be together even though it is obvious that they shouldn't know each other at all. The creepiness of a young boy falling in love with an ageless monster who just happens to look like a young girl is the movie's main strength and one of the scariest moments in film history because of how utterly wrong it is yet you don't want it to be any different. Any film that succeeds in building an entire narrative that plays on a person's emotions to frighten them is guaranteed to be unforgettable and Let the Right One In is just that.

My favorite movies are Before Sunrise, Pulp Fiction, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Alien and Her so don't be surprised to see those pop up in my writing from time to time. I'm currently in school for Journalism/English and I have an obsession with all things cinematic on the side.
