10 Most Gruesome Zombie Movie Deaths

3. Rosie - City Of The Living Dead

Shaun of the Dead Death
Dania Film

Lucio Fulci's second entry in this list may not be as immediately recognisable as his Zombi 2 eyeball-piercing scene... but it might be more grotesque, somehow. This supernatural horror film from 1980 follows a psychic and a reporter as they attempt to close the gates of hell - which have been opened by the hanging of a priest. As the gates open, a veritable army's worth of the living dead threatens to spill through, consuming all.

Famous for its extreme gore, City of the Living Dead's most notable - and unforgettable - gore sequence sees a young woman named Rosie Kelvin literally vomit her guts out. As the ghost of the dead priest appears before her, the poor young thing reacts by weeping blood and then vomiting up her own intestines. A sequence made all the ickier when you realise that this sequence was achieved by Fulci having his actress swallow yards of sheep intestine in preparation - and then barf them up whole for the camera.
