Infuriatingly those pesky Americans get to feast their eyes on Damien Chazelle's follow-up to the remarkable Whiplash before viewers in the UK as it is set for a December US release. But never fear, as we only have to wait until January to see Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling fall in love and sing and dance around beautiful Hollywood scenery.

After Chazelle's Whiplash was notoriously snubbed by the Academy many are predicting La La Land to make a storm this coming awards season. Five star reviews have been coming in left, right and centre. The trailer promises that the film will be simply gorgeous, and it looks set to tug at the heart strings with a story of romance while our two stupidly attractive stars try to manoeuvre their way through the manipulative success and glamour of Hollywood.

Chazelle is well known for basing his films around music, and there's not many more thrilling sights than seeing Miles Teller go nuts on a drum set, so it should be interesting to see the young director gift us with a straight-up musical. Listening to Emma Stone's raspy vocals as Gosling plays the piano while watching them both dance among the stars in the trailer is enough to make even the most manliest of men go all glassy eyed.
