10 Most Impactful Movie Scenes From The 2010s
6. Interstellar - Messages From Home
Nolan’s somber and thoughtful attempt at
space-exploring sci-fi allowed for one of the decades best films. It carried a
sense of maturity to the well-worn trope, along with an emotional heft that
created some truly astronomical results. Its expected then that one of
Interstellar’s most hard-hitting scenes, was one of its quietest.
After a disastrous voyage to the first of the potential inhabitable planets, Cooper returns to the ship to find that over two decades have passed, due to the time-bending science of interstellar travel.
Sitting down to a backlog of messages from Earth, Coop watches as his son grows up before his very eyes and discovers that he is now a grandfather. His daughter Murph, pulls at the heartstrings the most however, as she reveals that she is now the same age as Cooper was when he left – an age he promised he would be back for.
Interstellar’s most emotional moment, plays on the tragedy of a man fighting to get back to his family, and the stark realisation that he is failing.
