10 Most Impactful Movie Scenes From The 2010s
5. Mad Max: Fury Road - The Sandstorm
George Miller’s long-awaited sequel proved itself to be better than anyone could have ever hoped for. A colourful world, insane action, and an even more insane world. The roadways to Valhalla were glorious to behold, but no scene done it better than audiences’ true introduction to the petrol-fueled post-apocalypse.
With her pedal to the floor, a host of stowed away wives, and a party of War Boys on her trail, Furiosa rips her way through the desert in her War Rig. Max strung up on the front of a pursuer as a blood bag, things seemed that they couldn’t get more excitable. Then Miller throws in a behemoth of a sandstorm.
Hitting the vehicles like a wall of bricks, Max, Furiosa and the War Boys are exposed to the sheer mania of the whirling storm. Picking up an unwilling vehicle, the sheer spectacle of the fiery explosion swirling across the screen dumped viewers with their feet deep in the sand, fully immersed in the carnage of this metal-twisted ride.
An entirely awe-inspiring visual statement from Miller, the sandstorm gusts away any memory of the directors' previous two decades of talking pigs and tap-dancing penguin films. This was Miller time to shine, and everyone perked up in for this action extravaganza.
