The original 1954 movie, Godzilla, only gets better with age, with director Ishirō Honda managing to create one of the most iconic monsters of all time.

As always, the USA wanted to muscle in and claim Godzilla for themselves. So, in 1998, they did just that, with the American version of the famed Japanese icon.

The movie was directed by disaster specialist, Roland Emmerich, who for some reason thought it appropriate to cast the unlikeliest hero of all time, Matthew Broderick.

As a result, the movie bombed and was torn apart by critics.
