10 Most Inventive Chase Sequences In Slasher Movies

5. Urban Legend - And We're Live

TriStar Pictures

Another film that plays with perspective to give an original spin on the chase sequence trope. Urban Legend follows Natalie, as her friends are killed off by a literal picket axe killer one by one.

The most iconic scene in the movie follows Natalie's friend Sasha as she hosts her late-night radio talk show. While she's giving a bickering couple advice on their... cough cough… predicament, the axe-wielding killer sneaks into the room and murders Sasha's assistant. Her line goes dead and Sasha goes to investigate, only to scream bloody murder when the killer smashes straight through the studio's glass divider.

The ensuing chase would have been pretty run of the mill, except there's a twist. Sasha, who has her headset on, is still broadcasting her radio show. So as Sasha runs frantically through the empty building, dodging swings from the axe killer, Natalie and her friends listen horrified unsure whether or not it is real or if Sasha's pranking the audience.

As Natalie gets to the building, we see the axe killer finally catch up to Sasha and chop her to bits as Natalie looks on helplessly. It's overdramatic and cheesy but in the best way possible.

Ultimately though, it's absolutely terrifying that even though the whole campus is listening in to her show, Sasha cannot be saved from certain death.

Lily thought it was about time she wrote Top Ten lists for people other than herself. She also owes her dog a lot of money so she thought it was about time to pay her dues. There is no tv show she likes that she hasn't seen at least twice.
