10 Most Notorious Uwe Boll Films
3. Rampage: Capital Punishment
After rebelling against the “mind control dictatorship” in Rampage, Bill Williamson (Brendan Fletcher) has become an internet sensation and a poster boy for right wing hate groups, so in this sequel he takes over a TV station and uses it as a political platform.
“The US government is funded by the rich, and it keeps people on the brain level of children,” he says, pointing out that his “fans” are more interested in his body count than his message. Some of his points include: why don’t celebrities go to jail for drug offences? Why is Hollywood’s version of history shown in schools? Why don’t the homeless rob banks in order to survive?
Boll is nothing if not confrontational, and you have to admire his chutzpah in an age where the major studios have all shied away from controversy and instead opted to make the same crassly commercial product over and over again. You may or may not buy into his “message”, but his brand of provocation is always entertaining and goes a long way to making up for his video game adaptations.
