What does Jon Favreau do when he's not making blockbusting Marvel movies like Iron Man? He makes films like this, a warm back-to-basics comedy/drama about a chef who opens a food truck after being fired following an altercation with a powerful food critic. Of course this 'stripped-down' indie features Favreau's mates like Dustin Hoffman, Robert Downey Jr. and Sofia Vergara, but still: the real heart of the story comes from Favreau reconnecting with his son and ex-wife and realising that money and fame aren't so important after all. Its marketing campaign made it look painfully middle-of-the-road but, in practice, it is actually a really great piece of filmmaking. Just try to not let the incessant social media stuff bother you. Oh, and make sure you eat before or during the film: watching it will make you feel very, very hungry.
