10 Most Overpowered Movie Characters Ever

6. MewTwo

The Matrix Revolutions
Nintendo

Yes, obviously MewTwo is actually a video game character first, but he has virtually no personality in Pokémon Red & Blue, so is different enough in Pokémon: The First Movie that he’s worth including.

Though he does have the best stats in Gen I, he can be matched by Dragonite, Alakazam, Snorlax, Gyarados, Arcanine or the Legendary Birds with the right moveset. In the movie though, he’s practically an invincible beast.

Much more time is dedicated to his lore as a manmade Pokémon, and to fully sell his power to the audience he’s dramatically better than any beast he encounters across the course of the movie.

It turns out MewTwo has eyes on taking over the world, and it takes a Pokémon army to stop him. A far cry from the games where any ten year old can catch him with a Masterball and just rinse the Elite Four.

His dramatic speech about the circumstances of one’s birth being irrelevant is one of the most poetic lines not just in a Pokémon movie, but in any movie of the decade. Still though, he’s much more powerful than his 680 base stats suggest.
