3. Halloween III: Season Of The Witch

Halloween 3 Season of the Witch
Universal Pictures

Michael Myers is so synonymous with the Halloween franchise, it feels like the series couldn't function without him. However, the mask-wearing serial killer is entirely absent from Halloween III: Season of the Witch. After Michael seemingly died in Halloween II, the director, John Carpenter, moved onto other projects, seemingly bring the series to a close.

However, the studio believed Halloween was still a moneymaker and thus, greenlit a sequel. Since Michael was "dead," the story focused on an evil corporation selling masks that kill the wearers. Unfortunately, viewers didn't understand the studio was trying to turn Halloween into an anthology and hated how Michael Myers wasn't in this film.

Nowadays, many people believe critics at the time were too harsh on Season of the Witch, simply because it tried to do something different. So, is it a good movie?

Nope. It's derivative, slow-paced, unfocused, and has a lack of memorable... anything. If it was released as a separate slasher with no connection to Halloween, it would've become another forgotten horror flick. Considering the most memorable thing about Season of the Witch is the jingle should give you an inkling on how bad the rest of the movie is.
