10 Most Rewatchable Films This Decade (So Far)

5. Drive

Tom Hardy Fury Road

Few contemporary actors exude cool quite so effortlessly as Ryan Gosling, and few Ryan Gosling movies manage to achieve the same heights of cool as 2011's Drive. Gosling's first collaboration with the enfant terrible of modern cinema, Nicolas Winding Refn, he stars as a stunt driver who moonlights as a getaway driver for the criminal underworld, whose life becomes complicated after he gets involved with his neighbour, Irene (Carey Mulligan).

Less controversial than their more recent collaboration, Only God Forgives, Drive stood out on its release due to the stellar direction from Refn, Ryan Gosling's wonderfully taciturn performance and a driving soundtrack from Cliff Martinez, all ambient electronica punctuated with great electro-pop tracks from artists such as Desire and The Chromatics. It wasn't long before this heady concoction of elements put Drive firmly in the instant classics camp.

Drive is one of the rarer films which can be considered an "art house" movie, yet delivers such a propulsive and tense experience audiences have returned to it time and again. Its pace might be measured, but when Refn decides to unleash the action it packs a mean punch which doesn't lose its impact upon repeated viewings.
