10 Most Ridiculous Moments In Spider-Man Movies
9. Green Goblin In The Burning Building (Spider-Man)
Now the burning building fight from the first Spider-Man seems completely harmless at first. It's a quick bit of Spidey action and it ties in importantly with the next sequence: the razor bat injury Peter sustains here is what tips off to Norman Osborn that he is Spider-Man. However, on further reflection, this scene raises a lot of questions on how and why it even occurred.
Firstly, did Green Goblin himself set that building ablaze, or did he find one already in progress and just decide to hide in it? How long was he waiting in there for Spider-Man to show up? How did he even know Spidey would show up? Why did he feel the need to put a rag on his head and pretend to be an old lady? What purpose did that serve other than a cheap jump scare? Why go through all this elaborate trouble if all Goblin is going to do is just ask Spidey to join him again?
It's a sequence that serves a narrative purpose, but it has no real logical set-up when you really think about it, and when you do start to dissect it you can't help but laugh at the ridiculousness of it. To quote Bruce Wayne from Batman Forever: "It just raises too many questions."
