10 Most Ridiculous Villains In Recent Horror Movies

1. A Swimming Pool - Night Swim

Most people would be thrilled to live in a house with a swimming pool, but not the Waller family. For them, it turns into their worst nightmare.

Upon moving into their new home, patriarch Ray spends a lot of time in the pool as part of a treatment for an illness. Being in the water seems to change him though, making him more aggressive, which is later attributed to the fact that the pool is haunted by a demon.

All sorts of things have been possessed in horror movies, including a variety of household objects, but a pool has got to be up there with the least threatening. How is something that you can float on in a rubber dinghy meant to be scary? Again, you could claim that it’s the evil spirit doing the bad stuff, not the pool, but it is the latter that is framed as the villain for most of the movie.

The ineffectiveness of this choice is perfectly illustrated by the film’s conclusion. After defeating the demon, the family just fill the pool up with cement. They don’t even move out of the house!

Talk about a wet ending.
