Movies like the Indiana Jones series, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial, and the Color Purple built a career that continued across various genre and styles of filmmaking. Some of his most critically acclaimed work includes later films like Amistad, Munich, Lincoln, Saving Private Ryan, and Schindler's List.
