Drag Me to Hell is an absolute classic, so there’s no way it could be left off this list.

After denying a request for a mortgage extension by an elderly woman, Christine finds herself the victim of a curse in which she will be tormented by a vengeful demon for three days before she is taken to hell.

She is taunted and plagued by the demon and its doings, and goes so far as to sacrifice her pet kitten in an attempt to sate the beast’s anger. This curse is so fearsome because of its combined effect: not only are you just waiting on the countdown to your own death but you have a whole load of horrifying devil hijinx to deal with in the meantime.

Luckily, this curse can be lifted by passing the cursed object (in this case Christine’s coat button) to someone else. So if we look on the bright side, you could absolutely ruin your enemy’s day (and eternal spirit) by hiding it in their bag, or be a good person and give it to someone who’s already dead.

It’s an ok situation in the end; that is, unless you’re Christine and manage to get rid of the wrong object. At that point though, you’ve been stupid enough to bring it on yourself.
