10 Most Underrated 90s Horror Movies

4. Nightbreed

Containing perhaps one of the most terrifying villains to only ever appear in one horror movie, Nightbreed is born from the incredibly strange mind of Clive Barker - the man behind Hellraiser, and who wrote scripts for Candyman and The Midnight Meat Train. If you needed any more convincing of his leanings to a dark dimension full of monsters and death, then he's also put his name to video games like Undying and Jericho. Basically, man knows what he's doing.

Nightbreed, then, is the story of an underground city of benevolent monstrous people, Midian, which Aaron Boone eventually discovers after being plagued by dreams of the place. However, a terrifying serial killer is hot on his tail, meaning the citizens of Midian must come together to take down the real force of evil out to wreak havoc on human and monster alike.

Like a good cheese, Nightbreed has only gotten better with age, and with loads of lovely monster sightings for fans of the genre, a genuinely scary central antagonist, and a visionary, creepy world - it really does have something for everyone.
