10 Most Underrated Moments In The MCU

7. The Henchmen - Iron Man 3

Walking into Iron Man 3 fans could safely assume there would be some quality one-liners and banter, since Shane “Lethal Weapon” Black was in the director’s seat. He got his Christmas setting in there, and even managed to briefly turn it into an old fashioned buddy cop movie, when Tony and Rhodey team up in the third act.

Black’s always had a soft spot for that lowest member of the action movie cast; the henchman. Often in movies the henchmen are reduced to standing guard and pointing guns, but Black always tries to give them some inner life.

The scene that shows this best is when Tony is trying to escape from Killain’s lair, and has to awkwardly summon part of his suit while keeping two unimpressed guards distracted. One of them even has a classic sleazy bad guy ponytail.

It might be the funniest scene (depending on your feelings about “that” twist) and it’s the little humane touches that make it work, like the henchman who surrenders and runs away.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
