10 Most Underrated Movies Of The 2010s

2. The Nice Guys

Edge Of Tomorrow
Warner Bros.

Shane Black uses to be a cult commodity. He made films like The Long Kiss Goodnight and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang that were never huge box office hits but were more than capable of finding their niche. Then Iron Man 3 happened and Black had broken into the mainstream, big time, right?

Apparently not.

The Nice Guys was Black's follow-up that saw the writer/director returning to his pulpy roots with new-found funding. Starring the likes of Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe with a simple action-comedy premise that should have sold like candy, the film flopped at the box office.

Which is a shame because it is really great. Gosling and Crowe have a strangely enticing on-screen chemistry that allows both of them to play off of one another in increasingly hysterical ways. Black delivers some of his most thrilling action sequences and most point satire, hand-in-hand.
