10 Most WTF Movie Scenes Of 2025
7. The Floating Gun - Weapons
Though Zach Gregger's Weapons climaxes with the utterly WTF moment that is witch Gladys (Amy Madigan) being ripped apart by seventeen feral children, it's still not quite as bizarre as that early dream sequence.
One night, Archer (Josh Brolin) has a dream where his missing son Matthew (Luke Speakman) runs away and into a house.
As Archer observes the building from the outside, a huge assault rifle can be seen floating in the sky, with 2:17 - the time the kids all left their homes - emblazoned on the side of the weapon.
It's a moment that's puzzled just about everyone since the film came out, and though Cregger has been asked extensively about it in interviews, he's largely shied away from explaining it.
Some have naturally read it as a nod towards the school shooting epidemic in the United States, or visual foreshadowing of the missing children being weaponised at the end of the story.
Whatever you take away from it, it's certainly an evocative and unforgettable image.
