10 Most WTF Movie Scenes Of 2025
6. That Non-Ending - A House of Dynamite
Kathryn Bigelow's taut new thriller A House of Dynamite served up one of the most polarising endings of the year - one which left large swaths of the audience saying, "God-effing-dammit," and perhaps even feeling like they'd wasted 112 minutes of their time watching it.
The film follows various agents of the U.S. government as they race to intercept a nuke fired at Chicago from an unknown source.
And though the first act is a masterclass of tripwire tension, it ends by cutting to black before the missile reaches its final destination.
The next two acts show the scenario unfold from other perspectives, culminating with that of the President of the United States (Idris Elba), who must choose whether to launch a retaliatory attack and against whom.
But anyone expecting anything resembling closure is left sorely wanting - the film ends before the POTUS makes a choice and we never see whether the nuke obliterates Chicago or not.
While this frustration and ambiguity was obviously totally intentional on the part of Bigelow and writer Noah Oppenheim, that didn't stop it pissing a whole lot of people off who were expecting a more concrete resolution.
