10 Movie Actors Who Can't Escape Their Most Iconic Role

1. Daniel Radcliffe - Harry Potter (Harry Potter And The Philosophers Stone)

It's been nearly fifteen years since the world was introduced to Daniel Radcliffe, the lucky 10-year-old chosen to portray the bespectacled boy wizard in the film adaption of Harry Potter. From relative obscurity to the height of superstardom in the flick of a wand, he was the source of envy for every kid on the planet. Even Rowling herself heaped praise upon the director for his shrewd selection of Radcliffe for the titular role, remarking that, "I don't think Chris Columbus could have found a better Harry." Eight films later and it's nigh on impossible not to conjure an image of Harry Potter in your mind with anyone but Radcliffe staring back, to the point where it doesn't feel right when the now 25-year-old is snapped in a civilian setting without his trademark lightning bolt scar, robe and circular glasses. Will Radcliffe ever land a role as memorable as Harry Potter? Unlikely, but it hasn't prevented him from exploring new avenues. Most surprising of all was his decision to take up the lead role in Peter Shaffer's play Equus at the tender age of 17, in which he was required to perform a scene fully nude. Critics raved over for his "against-type" performance and he has since continued his attempted disassociation from the Potter-verse by starring in horror film The Woman in Black and supernatural dark comedy thriller Horns. Still, for the millions of children that grew up watching him walk the corridors of Hogwarts, Radcliffe will always be Harry Potter. A curse not even the Elder Wand could break.
