10 Movie Biopics That Desperately Need To Happen
7. Prince
Fantasy Casting: Andre Benjamin
Following Bohemian Rhapsody and Rocketman, Prince (plus another couple on this list) seem like perfect stars to join the recent swathe of musical biopics.
Prince is not only an icon of the 80s whose music has lasted to the present day, he was an artist in every sense of the word and a trailblazer to boot. He once opened for The Rolling Stones wearing a bikini; something which, ironically, takes balls.
Prince’s personal life offers a lot of narrative ground too. He married a girl fifteen younger than him, only to divorce after their first child died at just a week old followed by a miscarriage of their second.
Forever complex, Prince was also a practising Jehovah’s Witness, famously sued his former label for his name back and founded a charity to help kids code.
There were rumours of Bruno Mars being lined up to play him, but these were quickly quashed. Mars did, however, perform at a tribute to Prince, but lacks the acting experience for a role like this.
Quirkier choices of Janelle Monae or Zoe Kravitz have been touted, given Prince’s feminine and flamboyant style, but fresh off playing Jimi Hendrix, Andre Benjamin could certainly do the job.
