10 Movie Cameos That Were Total Accidents

1. Nuclear Waste: Fission Products & Transuranics From Thorium & Uranium - George Lucas

George Lucas is a director with a few cameos in his time but nothing comes close to the brilliance of him accidentally appearing in a documentary about the concerns of hazardous materials.

Nuclear Waste: Fission Products & Transuranics from Thorium & Uranium might be a much more riveting short film than the title makes it sound but one has to doubt that it maintains the heights that its accidental cameo creates.

As host Bruce Hogland walks down a street in Chicago, one of the most famous directors of all time wanders into frame.

In this hilarious and awkward moment, George Lucas steps onto the sidewalk, looks straight down the lens and freezes like a filmmaking deer in headlights. For a moment it’s clear that he considers letting the crew know that he just ruined their shot and then presumably thinks “nah screw it, I just made whatever this thing is go viral” before he walks off into a building.

And he did. The clip exploded in 2016 and every now and then gets another wind of movie fans pointing and laughing.

You have to wonder, had this been his own film, if Lucas would’ve digitally keyed himself out or in fact replaced himself with CGI as his appearance overshadows this perhaps important documentary but hey… those are the brakes.
