10 Movie Characters Destined To Be Killed Off

2. The OG Ghostbusters - Ghostbusters: Afterlife

Okay so this one is something of a wild card admittedly, but we’re nonetheless sticking to our guns because frankly this feels like the only possible resolution in this particularly problematic franchise’s ongoing history.

One of many, many missteps made by Paul Feig’s spectacularly bad 2016’s Ghostbusters reboot—you know, beyond trying to sell a film by insulting its franchise’s existing fanbase—was the contractually mandated cameos from the original Ghostbusters crew sans the unfortunately absent Harold Ramis, who tragically passed away before the reboot went into production. The cameos, obtained with varying levels of co-operation according to rumour, were clumsy and unimpressive in a film inundated by problems and proved another nail in the coffin rather a nostalgic treat for long-time fans.

As a result, it seems likely that the upcoming reboot of the franchise will kill off the original Ghostbusters crew entirely. This is both because the new film features Stranger Things’ Finn Woolfhard and Paul Rudd and thus isn’t starved for star power, but also because it explicitly takes place in the same established reality as the original franchise, meaning the crew will need to be addressed in some form or another and, with Ramis gone and Rick Moranis unlikely to come out of retirement, it’s likely the most tasteful route available for the filmmakers.
