10 Movie Characters More Important Than You Think

1. Running Man - Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)

In 1978's remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers, there's a brief sequence where Matthew Bennell (Donald Sutherland) and Elizabeth Driscoll (Brooke Adams) witness a hysterical man jump in front of their car and scream "They're coming!" repeatedly before running away.

The man is then chased by a mob and, moments later, Matthew and Elizabeth drive past his bloodied corpse.

Beyond being a supremely unsettling scene by itself, it's noteworthy that the Running Man, as he's credited, is actually played by Kevin McCarthy - the very actor who played protagonist Miles Bennell in the original 1956 Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

While we can't say with absolute certainty that this man is the very same Miles, it's certainly interesting to think about, that having survived a pod invasion two decades prior, Miles is all too aware of the fresh hell that's about to unfold. And so of course, the pods would want to eliminate him as soon as possible.
