10 Movie Characters Who Look Nothing Like Their Comic-Book Versions

1. Galactus - Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer

We could easily have slotted in Parallax from 2011's Green Lantern here, since both movies committed the same offence.

But adding both to our list would feel like a waste of an entry when the characters each received an identical butchering, and Parallax did had a face (and could talk), so that's something.

Galactus, on the other hand, was a cloud. He was a big, dark cloud. That's it. He had no personality, no other features and in no way, shape or form resembled his comic-book counterpart.

It was a bizarre decision for the filmmakers to make, especially considering that one of the movie's other villains - Silver Surfer - looked identical to the source material. Why directly translate one character and change the other completely?

Of course, a purple and blue-clad villain may have looked just a little too outlandish within the context of the movie, but to give Galactus absolutely none of the traits that made him so recognisable on the page was a big mistake.

Any other movie characters that deviated heavily from the source material? Let us know in the comments below!

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
