10 Movie Characters Who Ruined EVERYTHING

3. Trey - Sunshine

28 Weeks Later Dumb
Fox Searchlight

In Danny Boyle's delirious sci-fi thriller Sunshine, the crew of the Iracus II mission decides to investigate a distress beacon from the failed Icarus I, amid the belief that they could salvage its nuclear payload and give themselves an extra chance at reigniting the dying sun.

This change of plan requires the Iracus II's navigator, Trey (Benedict Wong), to plot a new path, but he forgets to realign the ship's shields, leading to whole host of damage, including the incineration of the ship's communications towers and vital air reserves.

This sets in motion a series of circumstances which cause the rest of the crew to be killed one by one, until only Robert Capa (Cillian Murphy) is left at the end to complete the mission and save the inhabitants of Earth.

While mistakes happen, there's mistakes and then there's mistakes - and making such a fatal miscalculation is basically unforgiveable considering the literally cosmic stakes involved.
