10 Movie Characters Who Sacrificed Their Lives Unnecessarily

7. Eddie Carr - The Lost World: Jurassic Park

There is absolutely no denying that Eddie Carr's attempts to save Ian Malcolm, Sarah Harding and Nick Van Owen were valiant and selfless, and he couldn't possibly have known that they would have survived anyway, but the fact is that he went too far, needlessly attracting the dinosaurs that killed him. Eddie was trying to save the trio after the trailer they were in was pushed over the edge of a cliff by a pair of T-Rexes. He threw them a rope, attached the trailer to his jeep and tried to pull it back up the cliff. The resulting engine noise attracted the T-Rexes back to the scene, where they killed him before fleeing into the woods once again. Malcolm, Harding and Van Owen then climbed back up using the rope Eddie had thrown them prior to his demise - he could have simply given them the rope, hidden back up in the tree hide, not attracted the T-Rexes back and everyone would have survived. Of course, it must be reiterated that he couldn't possibly have known that, but his death did turn out to be meaningless.
