8. Jack Dawson - Titanic
This one has actually been scientifically proven by the Mythbusters - see for yourself - and puts a rather gigantic plot hole in James Cameron's 1997 blockbuster. After the Titanic sinks, lovebirds Jack and Rose find themselves helplessly stranded in ice cold waters. Rose survives - albeit barely - by climbing onto a floating wooden panel, while Jack ultimately dies by remaining in the water so that Rose can stay as warm as possible. However, the fact is that both of them could quite comfortably have stayed above water on the wooden panel (with some science trickery). Cameron had previously stated that Its not a question of room; its a question of buoyancy", but he was forced to backtrack once his point was disproved and instead said I think you guys are missing the point here, the script says Jack dies. He has to die.
