10 Movie Co-Stars Who Shared Iconic Roles
5. Paul Rudd And Tobey Maguire - Nick Carraway
Although he never appeared in a movie with any other Spider-Man, Tobey Maguire shared a major role with another of his co-stars from a different film.
In 1999, Maguire appeared alongside the never-ageing Paul Rudd in The Cider House Rules. A year later, Rudd would play Nick Carraway in a television film version of F. Scott Fitzgerald's book, The Great Gatsby. In 2013, Maguire would also play Nick, in Bad Luhrmann's adaptation of the book.
In the opening line of Gatsby, we learn that Nick's father always said, "Whenever you feel like criticizing any one, just remember that all the people in this world haven't had the advantages that you've had." Rudd and Maguire, having shared a role, can criticize each other.
