10 Movie Deaths Only Explained Outside Of The Films

1. Jack Crawford - Hannibal

Jack Crawford is a pivotal character in Thomas Harris' Hannibal Lecter novels, and has featured in every adaptation of them in some form or another. The likes of Dennis Farina, Scott Glenn, Harvey Keitel and Laurence Fishburne have all portrayed the FBI agent in various films and TV shows, but - rather weirdly - he didn't feature in 2001's Hannibal.

The film itself is oft considered the worst of the various prequels and sequels that followed Silence of the Lambs, and Crawford himself didn't actually appear despite his leading role in the novel. This was due to a myriad of factors, including both the difficulty of adapting the novel as well as the fact that Glenn wasn't interested in reprising the role. Crawford isn't even mentioned, and his fate is only addressed in a deleted scene.

The scene in question doesn't even disclose much either - just that Crawford had passed away by the time the events of Hannibal start. It's not a great explanation by any stretch of the imagination, but it was one still worth keeping in the actual feature itself - regardless of its quality (or lack thereof).
