10 Movie Details That Aren’t As Important As You Think
5. The Victims' Names - Scream 2
Inspired by the events of the first film Scream film, a new killer has donned the Ghostface mask and begins his own murderous rampage in the movie's sequel.
Protagonist Sidney Prescott realises that the new Ghostface is picking his targets based on their names. Maureen, Casey, Randy, these are the names of the victims in the original Scream movie.
Upon learning this, Sidney's job becomes much easier. Just round everyone up with the same name as a previous victim and keep them safe. Easy, right?
However, this all goes out the window when Ghostface kills Sidney's boyfriend, Derek. There is nobody with that name in the first Scream movie.
Anybody trying to work out who the next victim was going to be based on their name was totally wasting their time, as the whole "copycat killer" idea fell apart as soon as Derek was murdered.
The murderer's motives become even muddier when it is revealed that there are actually two different people operating under the mask; a student named Mickey, and Mrs. Loomis, the mother of the original Ghostface.
This was a nice twist, but the lack of consistency surrounding the victims' names did undermine it somewhat.
