10 Movie Dystopias To Make You Feel Better About The Current Political Hellscape

5. Never Let Me Go

Never Let Me Go is a film that is incredibly off-putting in so many different ways. The general idea of the film is that there is a segment of the population who have been raised apart from the rest of society, clones that will, upon reaching adulthood, eventually be used as involuntary organ donors. Like, all of their organs. Even the ones that they need to live.

But what's really terrifying about this is that the film takes place in a universe that is incredibly similar to our own - it really just seems like present day England, but with this dark twist. In addition, it's heartbreaking the way that the clones are brought up. They grow up in secluded boarding schools, where they are educated like every other child, but kept separated from the outside world.

Then when they grow up, they are allowed to leave the school for a few years, to give them the opportunity to experience the real world before they will inevitably be murdered by the state.

It might not happen right away, but eventually they'll be brought in to have one organ removed, then another, until their body finally shuts down completely and their donation process is complete.
